Your reception layout does more than organize your guests, it shapes how the entire evening feels. Whether you’re dreaming of an intimate dinner, a lively celebration, or something uniquely your own, the seating style you choose helps set the tone.
At Windsor Manor, our reception pavilion is incredibly versatile, allowing couples to design a layout that fits their vision, guest count, and overall flow of the night. Today, we’re highlighting three of our most popular and most requested seating styles: classic round tables, our newly introduced serpentine style, and family-style banquet seating.
Below are examples from real Windsor weddings. Each style creates its own atmosphere and we’re here to help you choose the one that fits your vision best.
1. Classic Round Tables

Round tables are the timeless favorite for a reason. They fit naturally into our pavilion, create a soft and inviting look, and give every guest a comfortable seat with plenty of space.
Pros
Encourages conversation: Smaller groups allow guests to chat easily without shouting across the table.
Flexible placement: Round tables work with virtually any guest count and can be arranged to create a balanced, airy layout.
Visually elegant: The symmetry of rounds complements Windsor’s architectural lines and garden-inspired décor beautifully.
Easy décor customization: Centerpieces, linens, and chargers shine on a round canvas.
Cons
Less communal feel: Guests may interact primarily with the 8–10 people at their own table, rather than across the room.
Takes more floor space: Rounds require more spacing between tables, especially for larger guest counts.
2. Serpentine Layout

This layout made its Windsor Manor debut this past October—and it was stunning. What makes it especially unique is that it was created using our existing round tables arranged together to form a flowing serpentine shape. The result was an elevated, artistic centerpiece that felt both modern and whimsical.
Pros
High visual impact: The serpentine shape creates a “wow” moment and photographs beautifully from every angle.
More cohesive feel: Guests remain seated in one connected formation, creating a sense of togetherness without being overly formal.
Perfect for greenery and candle-heavy décor: Continuous tablescapes look incredibly romantic on this layout.
Creative use of existing inventory: No need for specialty tables—this style is achieved entirely with Windsor’s round tables.
Cons
Requires more planning: Curved and connected tables need precise measurements and styling to look seamless.
Limited flexibility: Not ideal for very small guest counts or couples wanting more traditional spacing.
More complex dinner service: Catering teams need a bit more choreography since tables aren’t arranged in standard rows.
Guest count limitations: Due to pavilion logistics, bar access, and walkway requirements, serpentine layouts work best for weddings with 80 guests or fewer.
3. Family-Style Banquet Seating

Family-style seating brings a warm, communal energy to the room. Long rows of banquet tables encourage guests to connect, share, and celebrate together. In Windsor’s pavilion, this layout creates a gorgeous, intimate feel—especially when paired with candles or lush garlands.
Pros
Encourages mingling: Guests interact with more people at once, making it ideal for couples who want a lively, social atmosphere.
Clean, elegant lines: Long tables emphasize the symmetry of the pavilion and create a romantic, European-inspired aesthetic.
Perfect for shared meals: Works beautifully with plated, family-style, or buffet dinner service.
Cost-effective décor: Because décor can run continuously down the table, this option is especially cost-effective if you’d like to use real florals or incorporate centerpiece styles beyond what our venue offers.
Cons
Tighter seating: Long tables can feel closer together than rounds, depending on guest count.
Less privacy: Guests may feel more part of the crowd than at an intimate table of eight.
Limited mobility: Getting in and out of the middle seats can be harder once everyone is seated.
Guest count limitations: Similar to the serpentine layout, family-style seating is ideal for weddings with 80 guests or fewer due to service logistics and pavilion flow.
